Christopher Young - Film Composer
Golden Globe-nominated composer Christopher Young has scored almost 100 successful features ranging across virtually every genre, all with strikingly original music. Never repeating himself, Young’s works extend from the spine-tingling “Hellraiser” showcasing his seminal upbringing in horror; to the new-techno sound of “Swordfish” and the resonant, genuine Celtic sounds of “The Shipping News.” His impressive list of film scores include Jon Amiel’s Warner Bros’ dramatic thriller “Copycat” and Amiel’s follow-up film, New Regency’s comedy, “The Man Who Knew Too Little.” The professional kinship of Young and Amiel endured and they subsequently worked together again on the Fox feature, “Entrapment,” for which Young received a BMI Scoring Award. Young provided the score to MGM’s box office sensation “Species,” for which he received a Motion Picture Sound Editors Golden Reel nomination for his work. Next up for the multitalented composer was the resonant score for “Murder in the First,” marking the beginning of an era of major career turning points. Young turned his attention to television, scoring the first of four telefilms. In 1990, he received his first Emmy nomination for Outstanding Music Composition for a Mini-Series, Movie, or Special recognizing the dramatic urgency of his music for the fall-of-Saigon film, “Last Flight Out.” In 1996, he was honored in the same category again but for a completely different style, the smoky jazz of the critically acclaimed HBO picture, “Norma Jean & Marilyn.” When Academy Award winning director Norman Jewison hired Young to score Universal Pictures; “The Hurricane,” Young officially entered the pantheon of A-list composers. His composition was widely praised, impressing the legendary director, who exclaimed, “I love it…he captures the power and strength of what was happening onscreen.” That year, Jewison personally recommended Young to Oscar-winning director Barry Levinson for the MGM release, “Bandits.”
Immediately following “Bandits,” Young further displayed his versatility with the composition for Warner Bros.’ “Swordfish,” where he incorporated elements of DJ Paul Oakenfold’s hypnotic trance into the orchestral score. He went on in 2001 to score the Miramax romantic drama, “The Shipping News,” directed by Oscar nominee Lasse Hallstrom. Young received both a Critic’s Choice and Golden Globe nomination for this strikingly original work.
Young’s extensive body of work includes original scores for the films Virtuosity, Murder At 1600, Hard Rain, Rounders, Urban Legend, The Big Kahuna, Wonder Boys, The Gift, Sweet November, The Glass House, The Core, Runaway Jury, The Grudge, The Grudge 2, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Beauty Shop, Untraceable and many more. In 2007, Young reunited with director Curtis Hanson for “Lucky You” and two films based on Marvel Comic characters; Sony Pictures, “GhostRider,” starring Nicholas Cage, and the summer blockbuster, “Spider-Man 3.”
Russ Regan is one of the few people in music history who is credited with creating over one billion record sales. Mr. Regan's prescience was sealed in history with his now-famous 1983 quote, "Someday you'll go to a concert and by the time you leave you'll be able to buy the recording of that night's show." Mr. Regan began his career as a recording artist in the 1950's and 60's, and in 1961, when a friend asked him to suggest a new name for a band called the Pendeltons that had just recorded a song called "Surfin," Regan came up with one: The Beach Boys. In the 1960's, as Promotional Director at Motown Records, his first project was "Please Mr. Postman" by the Marvelettes. He then went on to promote songs by The Supremes, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles and Marvin Gaye, which laid the foundation for its signature "Motown Sound", and also promoted many hit songs for Septor Records. He served as General Manager of Loma records in 1966, where he helped Frank Sinatra record "That's Life", and in 1967 became General Manger of Uni Records, a division of MCA, Inc., where for $2,500 he purchased the rights to and oversaw production and promotion of the mega-hit "Incense and Peppermint" by Strawberry Alarm Clock. Mr. Regan became President of 20th Century Records in 1972 and General Manager of Polygram Records in 1980, and the hits kept coming. He signed such notables as Neil Diamond, Elton John, Olivia Newton-John, Barry White, Hugh Masakela, Maureen McGovern, The Allen Parsons Project, and many others, and in 1974, The Bill Gavin Report and The National Association of Record Merchandisers named Russ Regan, "Record Executive of the Year". Mr. Regan was also instrumental in the marriage of pop music with movies, spearheading such huge soundtrack successes as "Chariots of Fire" "Flashdance", "A Chorus Line", "The Karate Kid", "This is Spinal Tap", "The Poseidon Adventure", "The Towering Inferno", and many others. In 1986 he returned to Motown Records as President of the Creative Division, where worked on Smokey Robinson's successful comeback effort, the platinum selling album "One Heartbeat" which included two top 10 singles, and where he remained until the company was sold in 1988. Since then Mr. Regan has been continuously active as an independent sound track consultant, and is in high demand for his talent for identifying hits and his unique ability to stay in sync with the popular music of the day.

Nathan Duvall - Composer / Music Supervisor
Nathan Duvall understands the power of music and its elusive strengths in capturing our imagination, prompting us to act. As a music publisher, producer, and composer he has taken this gift to unforeseen heights. In the last seven years, his work in the film industry has contributed to the marketing efforts of some of the biggest Hollywood blockbusters – movies that have generated over a billion dollars in ticket sales combined. Less than 10 years ago, Duvall established the music department for motion picture advertising company The Ant Farm. One of his earliest projects was M. Night Shyamalan’s The Sixth Sense campaign. For the film’s television spots, it was crucial to create an aura of suspense, mystery, and compassion for a boy who sees the dead, all within the time span of 28 seconds. Marilyn Manson’s version of “I Put A Spell On You” provided the dark build and feeling of dread that research exit polls revealed, propelled the young (13-25) demographic to see The Sixth Sense. Building on this experience Duvall became the first to license Massive Attack’s “Angel” for the Arnold Schwarzenegger vehicle End of Days campaign. He quickly discovered how a song could increase its value through well-placed advertising, thereby cultivating widespread awareness. Subsequently, “Angel” generated over a million dollars in licensing.
Between 1998 and 2005, Nathan supervised and produced scores for a multitude of feature trailers including the The Lord Of The Rings trilogy, Shrek, Spy Kids, Sin City, Kill Bill Vol.2, and Pirates Of The Caribbean. In 2000, Duvall co-founded music publishing company Howling Entertainment, alongside The Ant Farm principals Barbara Glazer and Mike Greenfeld.
